Dave Burke is a crusader against the monster of debt

American finances are in terrible shape currently, partly because of the current recession, and partly because of a culture of spending and debt that is unsustainable. Unfortunately, debt has creased to be a dirty word in American finances and has become the norm. The average American family has thousands of dollars in credit card debt alone. Bankruptcy has risen at an unprecedented rate. This has been worsened, of course, by the current recession. It has caused higher unemployment levels and lower overall incomes. Meanwhile, many people have maintained their same spending levels or have notes on expensive cars and houses that they simply cannot pay anymore. The inevitable result is, then, higher debt levels. Savings have shrunk or disappeared, if they existed at all, in favor of debt.

Dave Burke is a crusader against the monster of debt. He is the founder, co-host, and voice of the Real Talk Network, an organization which offers debt and credit advice to individuals and families. Burke and his staffers simply want to help families and individuals get out of debt or avoid getting into debt in the first place, a noble goal. The Real Talk Network has, in many cases, had a major impact on the financial security of American families or individuals by helping them to get out of debt without declaring bankruptcy.
